The Dingdong and Marian Dantes Reception #TheBeginning #DM123014

The reception was held at the SM MOA Arena. Quite a ways to travel from Cubao, but having the whole Manila population in Baguio (terrible traffic and lack of food there?) helped as we got to The Arena quite fast. We parked in the carpark building that connects to The Arena, and so there was no line entering the venue. As opposed to everyone who was dropped off in front. Though that was good that everyone got dropped off in front so they could pass by our YesPinoy table and give their gifts πŸ™‚

Once you got in the waiting hall, there were appetizers being served, as well as drinks. With Funk Avy providing the music. Des of course tried them all (she’s pregnant!) but I stayed away after 4 servings of appetizers. Around the hall were pictures and memorabilia of their love story. Very nice touch.

Now when you step into the reception venue itself…. wow. A feast for the eyes. Flowers everywhere, Spanish houses with lanterns in the air. Dessert tables and open bars decorated impeccably. Long tables with more flowers and (paper) butterflies. Just a sight to behold. Pictures don’t do it justice. It was a sit-down dinner, meaning they had to have a LOT of waiters serving everyone. Hats off to the caterer for the whole setup.

The invocation was sung by Christian Bautista. Emcees were a mix of Gabby Eigenmann and… oops… forgot the name of his partner; Tim Yap and KC Montero; and, Janno Gibbs and Ogie Alcasid. There was a dance number at some point, but we were too busy enjoying the food to notice them (and the backroom didn’t use the huge screen for live shots of what was going on…. weird). Derek Joyce Bernal showed two movies: one of the couple talking about their love story; and the other of people whose lives they touched. What a wonderful testament of a couple who actually DO SOMETHING GOOD with their popularity and influence. πŸ™‚

They also showed their two prenup videos.

They entered the room dancing, and kept their eyes on each other the whole night. The cake was interesting. It was a huge white cake, and of course, we thought it was plain. But before they cut it, it became a backdrop for a 3D interactive video. Very creative! The speeches were short and sweet (hats off to Angelo Dantes for the great and touching speech), and the Father-Daughter dance, Dong’s song and the whole night was such a wonderful expression of love. I know there are many opinionated people out there, but it truly was a night filled with love, commitment and joy. We are so glad to have been a part of it.

Congratulations Dong and Yan! We are with you every step of the way. Always keep God at the center of your relationship, and things will always work out. See you soon, enjoy the honeymoon!

Some more pictures of the reception, and especially the food!

Let’s eat! πŸ™‚ #TheBeginning #DongYanWedding
