We came from the Balasan event and went straight to Estancia Central School. This was a bigger event because this is the school we in YesPinoy adopted after Typhoon Yolanda. We are replacing all their 3,000 school chairs, and are constructing a school building as well. We brought along The Steps Project to give slippers to the 3,000 students too.
It started out great! We were able to have all our partners speak to the students. Lifeline Foundation, PBSP, The Steps Project. But when we got to the Mayor it started to rain. And during the Vice Governor, it poured! We got drenched. But the people stayed. They even danced in the rain for Dingdong’s birthday. He joined them. Of course, we all did too.
It was a good day to drink a lot of vitamins. We were able to turn over the first batch of chairs, tour the almost-complete school building (it will be complete and turned over by October! We’ll be back!) and also commit to plant 3,000 trees. One tree for every school chair made.
What a day 🙂 After a not-so-quick lunch (service was so slow) and a change of clothes, we headed to Iloilo City to support the event of the National Youth Commission and took the 8:30PM flight back to Manila. Can’t wait to do it all again.
