A 16 year-old Missionary.
It was my 16th year as a missionary yesterday. The Feast of Our Lady of Fatima. Wow 16 years is a looooong time. I have been through so much over these past years. And I haven’t looked back. I take the good and the bad, the fun and the sad, all kinds of experiences, decisions… everything that has brought me to where I am now and made me who I am now.
It still is an awesome ride.
It truly is a sweet 16. Thank you for changing my life. And I hope to keep spreading Your love to as many people as fast as I can.
2012 in review
The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.
Here’s an excerpt:
4,329 films were submitted to the 2012 Cannes Film Festival. This blog had 30,000 views in 2012. If each view were a film, this blog would power 7 Film Festivals
Bloggers Unite!
It was a good Thursday for me. Even if I had 9 hours of classes for my Masters in Religious Studies during the whole day. And even if I epic-failed my quiz in the second subject [wow, 37 years old and still failing quizzes?!]. And even if we had to weave in and out of traffic to get to Shaw Blvd to make it in time (did you know swerving is not an offense in Metro Manila?). Even in spite of all that, it was a good Thursday.
Because we mounted our first FLiQ Media Blogger’s Night
It was held at Tea Talk in World Corporate Center. Here’s the set up we made (I love the staff of Tea Talk, very accommodating!):
I had my first milk tea with cheese and rock salt. I could never get my head around the idea of mixing the three together. In my mind, all you get from that combination is diarrhea. But I tried it anyway. And it was pretty good! Though I did… oops. Too much information. Here’s the Macha something something:
And we got to listen to AJ Perez of Catholic / Activist Social Media fame. He gave a lot of good points about New Media, New Evangelization, Blogging, etc etc. And the open forum was pretty informative as well. I am thankful for the chance to have had to pick his mind and ideas. As well as the people who came over.
Now… what event can we mount next?
If you ever felt weird growing up, join FLiQ
We had our first “Creative” Assembly last Friday. I gave the orientation before the FLiQ girls went on and detailed the projects we are doing. While giving the orientation I realized that, wow, we have been blessed so much over the last 2 years since we started this. From just a website and Facebook pages in the beginning, now we are into print, internet shows, radio, campaigns, etc and etc.
And so, with just 6 of us in the team, we needed to gather more brains and brawn. And they did come
There are so many things that still need to be done, and we need to be even more open and available to what God has planned for all of us as we move along. Excited to see what’s up next for all of us. Good job, guys… I mean, girls:
And yes, if you felt weird growing up; or if you thought people didn’t understand you; or if you had ideas that other laughed at or dismissed – then we want to meet you. We want to hear your idea. Listen to your story. See your work.
This is the age of new evangelization. Doing things in a new way, yet saying the same message: the truth. And that’s what we need: New packaging of the unchangeable truth.
We want you.
Plans slowly coming true.
Our dreams our slowly coming true. And through no “fault” of mine. It is really the hand and intervention of God in all of this. I need to step it up to keep up with the pace.
Last Monday night we launched our own radio show! When the idea for radio came up months ago, it was just to make a show for podcasting. Record and upload. And I didn’t really push it like the other projects we were doing at the time. In my mind, if we were just going to upload it, then we can take our time. But this opportunity to actually go LIVE came up, and rocked our perspective. We had a few weeks to get it together, and then last Monday…. it’s ON AIR.
Wow. Why do I even doubt the hands of God in our lives? If your name is your mission, then why shouldn’t I dream bigger to get into all 4 major streams of media?
We have print with our STT Magazine. And internet websites, shows, social media and all that. Now, radio. Shall I even dare to start thinking up a TV Show? Why not?
Thank you, for trusting us. And for knowing we have our hearts in the right place.
You can listen to the show here.
I’m just so HAPPY to have been Nominated :-)
Not mine. I just had a picture with it. It is the award for best Radio Ad won by Teodora (and CFC FFL), but not something I worked on. Wow. It’s so hard to be nominated for an award. And when the time comes for your part, wow. I wonder how those Oscar nominees and other major award show nominees do it. How can you look like you are having a good time, and not be nervous?
I was sweating, I was breathing heavily, I couldn’t breathe. It was like I was about to have a heart attack! And when we weren’t called as a winner, it was like a heart being broken. How can you keep a straight face?
Yes, it was a great honor to have our entries become finalists, but it would have been so much cooler if we actually won. I am keeping bitterness and judging the winners out of my head. Ha ha. Because if it gets in there, I won’t have many nice things to say. Is that bad? Human, maybe.
Thank you CMMA! It was still a fun experience to dress up, go to the theater, hobnob with other media personalities and just get nervous because you think you are going to win. And that is the point, isn’t it? Thinking and hoping and praying that you will win because you know you made a great product.. and it deserves to win. But that makes it harder when you lose, too.
You can still get copies of CMMA Finalist STT Magazine and CMMA Finalist Live for You
See you next year, CMMA!
Struggling Radio Star
My second radio stint at this radio station. The first one was a few months ago, but that was during the evening telecast. This second one was at 7AM! It sounds like we have croak-y voices, too.
I do enjoy these things. Coming to the day, I am nervous and want to get out of it, but at the day itself – it’s actually fun. If only the station was nearer. It’s in Monumento! So the 6:30AM call time was actually good because we skipped all the traffic.

I need a Taglog tutor. Seriously!
34th CMMA Finals Night tonight!
Yes, I am excited. Yes, I am happy we got nominated. And yes, I want to win. I even made space for the trophy for when I get to borrow it from FLiQ.
Am I running headlong into feeling awful if we lose? I won’t lie, yes! I want to win. And I am sure everyone else does too. I’ll feel bad if we don’t, but I’ll get over it… someday. Ha ha.
Just like all those politicians running for elective office. Of course everyone wants to become President. Why go for elected office if you don’t secretly dream about being in the highest position in the land. So yes, again, I want to win.
Here are our competitors:
LIVE FOR YOU is up against Perry the Musicale, Umawit at Magpuri sa Panginoon and My Sweet Surrender.
STT MAGAZINE is up against Ignite, Tulay and Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno.
PEANUT BUTTER is up against Wings, All-Stars, Mustard and Jesus (how can you win against Jesus??!)
TEODORA has 4 NOMINATIONS! That’s awesome. Radio and Print Ads.
Time to Google them.
Social Media Planning and Baking Stookies
Who says the two don’t go hand in hand?
Our FLiQ Media team came to the house so we can do our social media calendar for the next few weeks. Wow. So much to do! Even with a lean team of 6, we will probably need more people soon.
The picture was taken before the actual meeting, with all the laptops open and snacks ready, and no picture after the meeting. Because you’ll know what stressed looks like. We love our job, of course. But when we sit and brainstorm, more and more ideas come out…. sometimes I think, why even brainstorm? We’ll just end up with more work and more stress. But all for the Lord, right? So bring it on!
The kids wanted us to finish our meeting right away because they will be baking stookies (I have no idea what they are, but look at this). And since the picture looks SO GOOD, we ended the meeting after a couple of hours. Now, they are baking.
Can’t wait to eat.
Oh and work on what we planned, too.
