We were nominated again at the Catholic Mass Media Awards! We had 7 nominations last year and one won! Now we had 2, and we didn’t win, but we did get a step closer. A Special Citation! And from the CMMA, that is worth a lot. Especially for what it said:
“for the comprehensive presentation of articles that inspire and inform Filipino Catholics”
Check out Family and Life Update website for more info (here). But suffice to say, that is the main goal of the FALU website. To inspire and inform Filipino (and other) Catholics all over the world. So happy to get recognition and appreciation for that.
Congratulations to the whole team! Work hard, and it is always worth it. Next year again!
Nominated again! Last year we had 3 nominations (plus 4 including the Teodora ones). Only one (from Teodora) won. I looked through my three (1, 2, 3) entries about it last year. And yes, it was such a rush being there!
And the pain of losing, wow. That was intense. I can still remember it now. It was our (FLiQ Media) first time to submit anything for consideration, and having three nominations is awesome. This is our second year, and we got 2 for 2!
Two nominations, in the same category. Both for best website. The websites of Family and Life Update and CFC YFL. I am giddy with excitement! Though having second thoughts about going. What if we lose? I might not be able to take it (drama king).
Pray for us! November 15 is D-day! Congrats to the whole FLiQ Media team! Our hard work is definitely paying off.
And the hottest rising show on YouTube! They get 300+ views within the first few hours of every new episode. When you talk about love and relationships, it’s always something people want to watch. Especially when you are speaking the truth. And the Live Pure Movement is all about the truth in chastity, purity, relationships, honesty.. everything. Here’s a still from the first episode:
And another one from the episode tonight:
And yet another from an upcoming pre-taped one:
What on earth can they be talking about? Catch the first two episodes here, and watch the latest one: ANG TIPO KONG LALAKI tonight! Join the LIVE PURE Tambayan!
These are fashionable people. And cool. And hip (do they still use that?). And they are God-centered. And they are striving to live good lives. What more can you ask for?
Their opinion on things. Enough of those “always-focused-on-sex” based fashion and commentary. Here’s the good alternative, spoken from those who know what is really going on… and what is truly important. Catch the first two episodes, and the latest one tonight at 8
Please, indulge me. I know I am opinionated on this blog. And even on Twitter. And when I feel like it I engage the trolls and haters. But now, we are entering a new arena. News. We are still fixing things as we go along, so stay with us
In the meantime, watch our three episodes. And comment, too. All views welcome.
And here I was 2 years ago, just trying it out. Who’d a-thunk-it?
This started it all:
We had Cocoi go around different places and “see the truth in everyday things.” From cupcakes to harana. From Europe to the Lenten season. From pain to jeeps. We went everywhere to see the goodness of God in everyday things.
And it multiplied to our weekday shows that we publish every 8pm. We still aren’t with “full-on” equipment, but we are getting the message across. And more and more people are getting involved:
Now Modern Day Prophet has pluralized! They are now PROPHETS. We are constantly tweaking the show (from a show of one, it is now 20+!), but here are our first two episodes. And catch the latest one tonight at 8pm
Even when High Time was still on the radio (check out the radio episodes on iTunes or via Podomatic), I was already a fan. When there were still 6+ of them and the show was every Monday at 9pm on the station 1530 on the AM band. When season 1 ended, we took stock of the show and decided to go YouTube. There was a change in hosts as well (the others went to other shows), and now we have Jermer, Trenzy, Mac and Teny:
And now, I am an even bigger fan! Honestly, I laugh so hard watching their episodes. Even if I watch by myself. They are just so funny and they interact really well with one another. Without sacrificing the message. And… it just works.
And I can go on and on about how funny they are… but you just have to watch. Three episodes in. Here they are:
Go HIGH TIME! I am your biggest fan!
Do you watch cute cats, videos, cooking shows on YouTube? TV shows, basketball and others? It’s time to check out these shows as well:
4. The Review. Being Catholic means you can be fashionable. You can have fun. And be cool. Watch their essentials for the rainy days. And tonight, a new episode!
5. Live Pure Tambayan. How we can learn more about chastity, love and relationships from the young. They’ve spoken about courtship. And tomorrow, about girls
Watch them all. Every weeknight at 8PM right here: http://www.youtube.com/user/fliqmedia
It was a hectic week!
A few months ago we decided to do online shows. We sat down, thought up concepts and brought out our timetable. Never did I think it would be so gloriously painful and hard. But, here we are, and we got through week 1.
The first to get made was Family and Life Update. Now this was three years in the making. In the early days of FLiQ, we went to Detroit to intern with Real Catholic TV (now Church Militant TV) for 3 weeks. And we did screen tests for a daily news show. We were taught basic news researching / writing and production. We never got around to actually doing it until now. We got sponsors for equipment, and people volunteered to help us out. And it finally got done.
Second show of the week is High Time. It started last year as a weekly radio show, which we uploaded as a podcast, with livestreaming. We took a break after 23 episodes, and decided to re-start it. But with a different twist. Online and with video. We had a change of hosts because of the other shows that were being planned. And now, High Time is back with Season 2.
Third is Modern Day Prophets. Originally, a one-man show with Cocoi Javier as the Modern Day Prophet. We had 14 episodes in the original run, then 9 episodes in Europe, and 9 more during Lent. We had a lot of good responses from young people who would make their own MDP episodes. And so we got the idea to use the “s” in Prophets. Now we have 4 groups of about 6 people who will be Modern Day Prophets. A different group every week per month. That’s sharing the call to see the Truth in everyday things
The fourth, and the new show, is The Review. We LOVE to talk about everything. Movies. Clothes. Weather. New things. Pop culture. Yet when we research online, we don’t get pictures and opinions that match what we believe in. The world is in the “sex sells” mindset. But can we be cool, yet Catholic? Fashionable, yet faithful? Geeky, yet Godly? YES! And this show proves it.
And the last (but not the least, of course) is the LIVE PURE Tambayan. Last year the Live Pure Movement produced Tadhana. That short film got rave reviews. So it was not far possibility to have more shows for LP. They have gone all over the country speaking to the young, answering their questions on love, sex and relationships. Why not bring that forum online? And now, it is online. Ready with young people talking to young people. Easy to understand. Easy to relate to.
Only Family and Life Update was supposed to be pre-recorded. Unfortunately, with our internet issues, we cannot afford to have livestreaming as of yet. We are working on that, though. Hopefully we get more equipment, better internet speeds and faster editing software (sponsor us? :-)) We want to have an initial run of 12 episodes, so 55 more! We hope to hear from you and get your comments. We want to make sure we hit the spot
Please, watch the shows we work so hard on. Here. Thank you for your support.
