Survivor Philippines Celebrity Showdown just ended. And Akihiro Sato won over Ervic Vijandre, Solenn Heussaff and 15 other castaways. Ok, I get it. He’s a nice guy. And he tried to be nice the whole way through. And if you take his game at face value – without comparing it to anyone else’s gameplay – then yes, he does deserve to win.

BUT, there was definitely someone who played the game better than everyone else. And maybe even better than many American-version castaways. She had the brains, she used her appeal, she made alliances, she stayed in challenges, she was loyal to a few, and did brave moves when possible. She had immunity almost all throughout the game, and when she didn’t have it – it was given to her.

Sadly, sometimes the best players don’t win the game. The people who vote for the winner use their emotions (which is also a way of playing) – and vote for the second best, or even for someone who doesn’t deserve to win at all.

So, at the end of the day, congratulations Aki. But to me, Aubrey Miles is the true winner of this game.

And… I just proved to the world how much of a reality show geek I am.
